About
Living Future Courses is dedicated to seeding living systems of care and cure.
Areas of focus include:
- Conceiving of fertility as creative nurturing of life on earth and exploration of the full range of fertile possibilities inherent in humanity, including habitat restoration and integration.
- Responding to emerging anthropogenic epidemics due to chronic ambient poisoning through development of medical detection and greater reliance on the n-of-1 case narrative revived by Dr. David Sackett, the father of evidence-based medicine, and by Dr. Oliver Sacks, the father of post-modern novel length case study.
- Recognizing the impact on humans of modernist poisoning of life on earth as well as consumptive destruction of habitats and of the body of life on which all other bodies depend for life
- Integrating into Hippocratic medicine the views, ideas, and methods of the emerging paradigm such as: the 500 year plan for survival and the thriving of life on earth; the seven petals of the living building paradigm; the soil-to-soil ethos of organic farming; and the habitat specific nature of the new localism
- Introduction of a new literary genre called bio-fiction to engage the imagination and the ideas developed by theologians, field biologists, and physicians in speculating on plausible means by which humans might move beyond Anthropocene vitacide to survive and thrive with evolved life.
- Development of a working model that enables self-care to synergize with collaborative cure and that offers systematic, comprehensive, inclusive and coherent realization of a better life by the sick, no matter how socially isolated they may be
- Medical Eldering analogous to clerical eldering such as that proposed by Rab Zalman in Age-ing to Sage-ing, by Richard Rohr in Falling Upward, and by popular culture such as Jane Fonda’s Act Three, writers’ chapter three, and by theologians (e.g. The Sophia Perennis)
Taken together, these comprise our working model for the emerging paradigm in medicine. The ultimate goal for this model is the formation of a rural residential habitat restoration clinic and community followed by rapidly evolving clinics in every habitat on earth.
Why think small? Our species has a planet to save, and we don’t have much time…
